ABOUT NOMENOM
“Nom nom” is an exclamation or noun used to express pleasure at eating, or at the prospect of eating, delicious food. I cannot find a definition for nomenom and it seems to be a local way of saying nom nom. My definition of nomenom is the actual food that is delicious or is pleasurable to eat.
I will be cooking for my family and writing about it at the same time. I love to cook, and there are so many food blogs out there, but I have yet to see one that captures real life. What I mean is that I never have all of the ingredients in a recipe, in my kitchen. I intend to write about our actual life, day to day and tell how I decide what’s for dinner. We seldom have the money for all of the fancy spices or exotic vegetables in some recipes. We try to buy the least expensive items, and I try to make meals that result in leftovers for another day or so.
Funnily enough, this is the reason Cajun cuisine is what it is. Cajun people were generally a poor people. Meals were prepared with the cheapest ingredients and ‘stretched’ by adding water or rice.
I’m not trying to impress anyone by cooking elaborate dishes, and sometimes I find it hard to make my finished meals look pretty on a plate. I may not use a recipe or have precise measurements. After cooking for 20 plus years, I usually ‘spitball’ the amounts of the ingredients in my cooking. So, I will try to nail down the measurements, but if I don’t put one in the ‘WHAT YOU WILL NEED’ section, that’s why.
If there are any questions or feedback on a tried recipe, please feel free to Contact me!!

I am enjoying your blog! I have relatives in New Orleans and have ordered muffalettas many times…however, I have never made them myself! I first heard about your blog on Danny’s blog…I am hoping to make some new connections!

Hey! Thanks for your sweet comments! My dad tried making them at home once and they just weren’t the same. The most important thing that you can’t get anywhere else is the bread, they have it special made just for Central Grocery!

Thanks for the comment! I know exactly where Central Grocery is located. In fact, we most likely have been there…since we have walked around that entire area!

I am from Louisiana. How cool to run across your site. I just found a Cajun Resturant here in Illinois. Had a great chicken sandwich with Boudin sausage. I almost cried it was just like home.
